Mr Ian Bayley - Icon of the Shoulder World

        

Mr Ian Bayley is a senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Shoulder and Upper Limb and practicing at BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital, Harrow, London and the Middle East with consulting at No 75 Harley Street, London. 

Mr Bayley was one of the iconic four who established shoulder surgery as a specialism in Britain. He was appointed Clinical Director of the Spinal Injuries Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, when it opened in 1980 and both established and directed the Complex Shoulder Surgery Unit there. 

Instrumental in the early development of International Shoulder Conferences and of the European Shoulder and Elbow Society, he took on the role of National Clinical Chair of the NHS Orthopaedic Services collaborative and various subsequent service redevelopment roles on the national stage.

Having lectured Internationally with roles including - Presidential Guest Speaker of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, President of the British Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and by invitation, an honorary lifelong member of the Society - his passion remains firmly at “the coal face” of clinical practice.

Recognised as the godfather of shoulder surgery, he is an established expert in the management of scapular dyskinesis, complex pain states, non-operative treatment of clavicle fractures and shoulder instabilities together with rotator cuff pathologies correction, primary and revision shoulder replacement.
